The night before a race you'll be feeling excited or anxious, so don't rely on having a good night's sleep. Instead, make sure you're well rested in the nights leading up to the big day. Don't worry, a single night's poor rest won't affect your performance.
Know what you're going to eat and when you're going to eat it. Stick to tried and tested food that you've used in training. If you have to travel to the race, bring food with you, don't rely on 'finding it'.
The 'never try anything new on race day' rule applies to equipment and food. It may be tempting to wear that shiny new race t-shirt, try a last minute bottle of new-flavour sports drink or even new shoes, but unless they're tried and tested, they could sabotage your race.
