Give it a go! Entries open for 2023 Admiral Swansea Bay 10k

February 7, 2023 By Chris Williams

New entrants – along with existing runners – are being invited to get their entries in for the 2023 Admiral Swansea Bay 10k.

Organisers Swansea Council have already started putting up new-look banners with “Give it a go!” messages around the city.

The event will take place on Sunday, September 17.

It’ll be the 17th event that Admiral has sponsored, which, as well as the 10k, offers 1k and 3k junior fun runs, along with a 10k wheelchair race and a mascot race.

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “Thousands of people see their friends run the 10k, cheer them on at the event and then wish they’d given it a go too. It’d be great for those people to sign up this year and they still have more than seven months to train.

“We’ve had an excellent response to our early bird offer and we are expecting demand for places to be as high as usual.”

Rhian Langham, Head of People at Admiral, said, “We’re excited to be sponsoring the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k once again this year, with last year bringing thousands of people together to achieve their goals and cheer their loved ones on.”

August 19, 2022 By Chris Williams

Bythefnos yn unig sydd ar ôl i bobl sy’n dwlu ar ffitrwydd a chodi arian i elusennau gyflwyno’u ceisiadau ar gyfer 10k Bae Abertawe Admiral eleni.

Cyngor Abertawe sy’n gyfrifol am y digwyddiad, sy’n cael ei noddi gan Admiral. Yn ogystal â’r ras 10k, bydd rasys iau 1k a 3k ynghyd â ras 10k mewn cadair olwyn. Disgwylir i oddeutu 5,000 o bobl gymryd rhan yn y ras boblogaidd hon unwaith eto eleni.

Meddai Robert Francis-Davies, Aelod Cabinet Cyngor Abertawe dros Fuddsoddi, Adfywio a Thwristiaeth, “Mae Ras 10k Bae Abertawe Admiral, sy’n un o ddigwyddiadau mwyaf poblogaidd y flwyddyn yn Abertawe, yn ras wych i athletwyr profiadol, pobl sy’n codi arian ar gyfer elusennau a phobl sydd am guro eu hamseroedd gorau neu drechu nodau ffitrwydd personol.

“Gyda golygfeydd prydferth Bae Abertawe yn y cefndir a’r ras yn cael ei rhedeg ar lwybr gwastad, mae’r digwyddiad arobryn hwn hefyd yn cynnwys rasys i blant sy’n rhoi cyflwyniad perffaith i redeg ar y ffordd iddynt.”

Mae Ras 10k Bae Abertawe Admiral wedi ennill sawl gwobr dros y blynyddoedd ac roedd tua 4,000 o redwyr wedi cymryd rhan ym mhrif ras y llynedd, ar gwrs a oedd yn mynd o safle San Helen i’r Mwmbwls ac yn ôl.

“Mae’r bobl sy’n cymryd rhan yn y ras yn gadarnhaol iawn am y profiad oherwydd safon trefnu a rheoli’r ras ac oherwydd y gefnogaeth maent yn ei derbyn gan y cannoedd o bobl sy’n bresennol ar hyd y llwybr.

“Gyda’r dyddiad cau ar ddiwedd mis Awst, hoffwn annog unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn cymryd rhan yn nigwyddiad eleni i gofrestru cyn gynted â phosib i osgoi cael eich siomi. Hyn a hyn o leoedd sydd ar ôl ac mae’r ras bob amser yn llawn, yn aml cyn y dyddiad cau.”

Dyma’r 16eg ras 10k Bae Abertawe y mae Admiral wedi’i noddi. Meddai Paul Billington, Rheolwr Lles a Chymorth yn y Gweithle Admiral UK, “Rydym yn falch o gefnogi ras 10k Bae Abertawe Admiral am yr 16fed flwyddyn.

“Mae’n wych gweld cynifer o bobl yn dod at ei gilydd i gymryd rhan, o athletwyr proffesiynol i’r rheini sy’n rhoi cynnig arni am y tro cyntaf. Mae dros 200 o weithwyr Admiral wedi cofrestru ar gyfer yr her ac maent yn edrych ymlaen at ddigwyddiad gwych arall. Pob lwc i bawb a fydd yn cymryd rhan!”

*2022 Race entries are now closed*

THERE are just two weeks left for fitness fans and charity fundraisers to get their entries in for this year’s Admiral Swansea Bay 10k.

Swansea Council is behind the event, which is being sponsored by Admiral. As well as the 10k, there are also 1k and 3k junior fun runs, along with a 10k wheelchair race. About 5,000 people are expected to take part in this popular race once again this year.

Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Investment, Regeneration and Tourism, said: “An exceptionally popular feature of Swansea’s annual events calendar, the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is a terrific race for elite athletes, charity fundraisers and people looking to tackle their personal bests or conquer personal fitness goals.

“Set against the iconic sweep of Swansea Bay on a flat course, this award-winning event also includes junior races for children, which give a great introduction to road-running.”

The Admiral Swansea Bay 10K has won numerous awards over the years and around 4,000 runners took part in last year’s main race, on a course that heads from St Helen’s Ground to Mumbles and back.

“People who take part are overwhelmingly positive about the experience because of the quality of the race’s organisation and management, and the support they receive from hundreds of people lining the route.

“With entries closing on August 31, I would urge anyone interested to enter this year’s event as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Remaining places are limited, and the race always reaches capacity, often before the closing date.”

This is the 16th Swansea Bay 10K that Admiral have sponsored. Paul Billington, Admiral UK Wellbeing & Workplace Support Manager, said, “We’re proud to be sponsoring the Admiral Bay Swansea 10K for the 16th year.

“Seeing so many people come together to take part, from professional athletes to those trying it for the first time, is fantastic to see. Over 200 Admiral colleagues have signed up to the challenge and are looking forward to another great event. Good luck to everyone taking part!”
